well straightening ur hair REALLY damages ur hair, and causes split ends. Try to find a ceramic one, it dosen`t damage it as much. Hairspray is eww 4 ur hair, don`t use it!. Well actually it`s all bad, but if u find good products it dosen`t hurt it as much.

First of all, I suggest DITCHING the mousse, the gel AND the hairspray. If you already straighten your hair, why do you need all of that stuff?

Not only that, those products can cause dandruff those white little flakes? And dry or oily hair. Which is not healthy, and definitely not attractive on hair.

What I can recommend is something like Bed Head that you can use on your curls to make them seem more pleasing to you. Straightening your hair can cause it to break and become way too oily or dry.

Suggestion: Less straightening, more liking your curls. Also, when shampooing your hair, try to shampoo and condition every other day, and make sure you do not condition your hair by the roots, that can cause a lot of oiliness/dandruff.

Have fun with growing out your hair!

I have long hair and this is what I did. I talked to the hair dresser and they said to get regular trims because the hair can get dammaged and split. I cut my hair every 2-3 months and just ask for a trim for health. It really has helped. Also taking a multivitamin helps. It will help your hair if you do not straighten it, but if you do just avoid the blow dryier and curling and flatening irons. Make sure to use conditioner.

I'm sure you're not African American, there's this great site, growafrohairlong.com. I'm going to do you a labour of love, by giving you some great pointers, since Black hair is obviously curly but also very dry and delicate. It sounds excessive and it may be expensive, but you are definitely going to do better at growing your hair out. First shampoo your hair with only a conditioning shampoo-I suggest either Nexxus Therappe or Matrix Biolage Ultra Hydrating Shampoo. Then here is my conditioning regimen: Nexxus Keraphix, rinse, Nexxus Humectress, rinse, spray infusium 23, don't rinse, then add Paul Mitchell The Conditioner Leave in. Now, this is excessive as well, but it feels awesome---wash and rinse your hair with Evian water--I do. It's softer water, and allows the hair to be softer and shinier. If you straighten your hair, I use this fantastic serum--Proclaim-Heat Styling Serum (Sally's Beauty Supply.) It's for all hair types. If it's too heavy, I feel that Biosilk's Silk product (clear bottle) is just as good. Then you can safely blowdry only on Medium. Section off your hair in four parts and don't proceed to the next section until that section is dry. When you are ready to flat iron, add a little more of this serum, then flat iron. I recommend the Chi, because one pass is good enough to get the hair straight, therefore it minimizes damage. How to preserve the hair--try to keep the hair away from rubbing against your collar--it will break. Put it in a ponytail or braid your hair. You need to learn not to always have your hair down. It stresses the hair!!! Next at night, there's this thing that Black women do-we wrap our hair around our head, so that it creates a huge roller. Look it up. It gives hair volume and body, while keeping will keep your hair straight--if you wondering--black women's hair get's dry, so we CANNOT wash our hair frequently. Perhaps your curly hair would be stronger and moisturized without constant shampooing. You should try to wash your hair every other day, or every three days. Your hair will be prettier. If your scalp looks oily, use a little baby powder. Next, don't sleep on cotton pillows!!! Try to wear a scarf or sleep on satin pillow cases. It stops the hair from drying and being sliced by the cotton fabric. Satin is much softer. Next, if you really want healthy hair, I suggest GNC's hair, skin, and nail vitamins, as well as Iron pills and Amino Acid formula pills--check with your doctor first, to make sure it's okay. Drink lots of water--a gallon a day--your skin will glow. Last tidbit of advise---Nexxus Emergence used every other week is a God-send. It will turn just about any hair condition around.
