I need to know what to do with my kinky hair?

I currently have dred locks and I soon am going to cut them. Though the problem is I don't know how to wear it after I cut it. I have really kinky, curly, black, thick hair and I need a way to style it. I am ready for a change and I hope you have some ideas. Also I would like to know if you knew of a product that can help soften my hair a bit so it is easier to work with. Thanks so much, I will appreciate any suggestions!

I wear my hair kinky now usually in cornrows or a bun but sometimes also in a puff. I use pure shea butter and leave in conditioner to soften my hair. Its so much easier to comb that way.

I am also African American and the easiest way to care for your hair is regular trips to the salon. The person who made the comment about shaving your head is quite ignorant so ignore that answer and take my advice. Hot oil treatments, Carol's Daughters line and keeping your hair trimmed are all good things to do for kinky hair.
